Education.





If we had an educated citizenry, it's highly probable that we wouldn't poke our war toys in everybody's faces thereby ';causing'; the ';need'; to spend more on defense than the next 17 countries combined.What is the most important service the Government renders in exchange of taxes collected?
';Provide for the Common Defense';





It's right in the Preamble of the Constitution. Although I think we spend way too much on the military, making sure you secure the country is the first step.





';Promote the General Welfare'; comes next. To me, that means all those social programs that righties hate. Including Health Care.

I think it's sad that everyone thinks people are trying to attack us all the time, so much that we need to spend all of our money on defense.

This country strives on the poor being poor and the rich being rich. The fact that there is no intention of this changing is sad.

National defense...without it, its conceivable that we wouldn't even have any of our other programs.
Protect our god given rights as outlined in the US Constitution.
