What would feminists do if the economy rendered birth control pills unprofitable and the factories were idled?

Then I would probably die, since I actually need birth control pills for a health issue. Most people use the Pill for contraception, but others use it for other reasons, like minimizing the effects of periods, or regulating periods.

EDIT: I had to get a blood transfusion in 2002 because they were that bad. I was pale as hell, dizzy as hell and my blood count was extremely low. What would feminists do if the economy rendered birth control pills unprofitable and the factories were idled?
first, you talk as if birth control is a bad thing. Birth control is actually a very good thing, no one thinks that indiscriminate reproduction is a good idea. Second, the cost of producing birth control pills is so low that it is unlikely that they will ever become unprofitable. Third, birth control pills are often used to treat a wide variety of medical conditions, including osteoporosis which occurs primarily in postmenopausal women. What would feminists do if the economy rendered birth control pills unprofitable and the factories were idled?
Well, if there was no need (and so long as there's a substantial enough need, I imagine them remaining profitable), why would we be fighting for it?

But I doubt it would happen. There are so many women using birth control as hormone therapy (like myself) or to help with other things like PMS, PMDD, acne, etc., etc..

EDIT: Ah. Well, you were talking about it becoming unprofitable, not a problem in production.
Then people would just use condoms instead.
That would never be unprofitable. Not all people take birth control pills for the reason you assume. I have to take them becasue I have irregular menstrual periods. And with out them that could be life threatening. You need to do some research on birth control pills before you make generalized statements like that.

And yes, periods can kill if they are irregular.
Take over the factories? Protest and sign a petition? Fund research for homemade bc? Facilitate mass castration of men? idk....

We'd probably see a rise in alternative bc methods. Vasectomies, hysterectomies, and tubal ligations would be more common. Clinics might even offer sales. The abortion rate would definitely skyrocket, though. That, and the rate of mental illnesses.
Look at what happened in Romania during Nicolae Ceausescu's regime to get an idea of what could happen. All forms of birth control and abortions were banned. As a result, the orphanages began overflowing with unwanted children. Most of the children weren't actually orphans. Their parents couldn't afford to care for them or didn't want them so that's why they ended up in orphanages. Many had serious psychological effects of having been institutionalized so they could not bond with anyone, even when Americans began going over there in large numbers in the early 1990s to adopt them.
Well, I don't know what ';FEMINISTS'; would do, but the rest of us would find ourselves buried under a population explosion of monumental proportions - and in a world where overcrowding and critical shortages are ALREADY becoming a serious problem!

Since it would probably be the elements of society who are least prepared to handle unwanted children who would have the most of them, we would also be innundated with additional social problems, as all these unwanted and probably neglected (and in too many cases, mistreated and abused as well) kids begin to grow up. Since the birth rate would IMMEDIATELY skyrocket, we would see a new ';baby boom'; that would make the post WWII baby boom look insignificant by comparison.

The percentage of juvenile delinquency would climb out of control. If you think things are bad NOW - with kids having kids and kids killing kids - just imagine what kind of a destructive free-for-all we would see THEN! And as this new generation of unwanted children reached teenage and young adulthood, the surviving juvenile delinquents would become full-fledged adult criminals, and then THEY would start flooding the world with THEIR unwanted progeny, as well.

Wake up and LOOK at conditions in the world today in places where birth control is NOT available NOW! People are starving because there is not enough food. Sickness runs rampant. Overcrowding and massive poverty rule the day where working fathers cannot afford to feed and provide for their huge families, and the mother can't go to work and help out because she is stuck at home with her litter of kids. Even in large cities, the homeless population is more the rule than the exception.

(After a few generations of irresponsible, uncontrolled massive reproduction, homeless mothers would be seeing their kids starving to death on what used to be the main street in YOUR town!)

Beyond just your ';feminists'; - it would be an unqualified disaster for EVERYONE!
I don't think that will happen. I think if the economy worsens, people will be more eager to have birth control as they really, really, really won't be able to afford another child. The demand will go up; there would absolutely be profit in selling them still.

If there was a shortage, people would start making their own methods of contraception. Or there would be a bunch of women who were finally forced to learn about fertility instead of learning how to avoid pregnancy, and the rhythm method would become far more commonly used. It's possible to avoid pregnancy that way, although it's not fool proof and it isn't easy. lol
They won't.

I imagine their husbands and boyfriends might do and say the same things.
Umm, quick question? What exactly does birth control pills have to do with feminists? Seriously? I mean, birth control pills are just another prophylactic. Or did you mean the morning after pill? Now, I could see the tie in between feminists and the morning after pill. And no I don't think the morning after pill is bad, or that only feminists use it, etc. But really why are you just asking what feminists would do? I mean, what's the point? That's just making a generalization and everybody knows that generalizations are soo not the way to go if you're looking for good information.

Plus many women use birth control pills to control hemorrhaging while on their period, a very serious problem.
